Q: Can the Google Bot handle cookies?

Hey all
I am having a problem with a site of mine.
The site is offered in multi languages. The language can be switched and the value gets stored in a cookie. Now Google only has indexed my page in English. No German or French pages are indexed.
My question is if the Google Bot saves and resends the cookie. Due to the architecture I guess not.

Would it be better to append a "lang=" to each link?

If you haven't seen it yet, have a look at Philipp's piece:

and the associated Forum comments.

A small snippet from the Google Webmaster Help Center:
"If features such as JavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Macromedia Flash keep you from seeing your entire site in a text browser, then spiders may have trouble crawling it."
