Maybe it's only the feature that has been recently added to Google Calendar. You can add reminders for individual events and that includes email messages.

This seems to be rolled out for me now. I see the link in Gmail that reads "New! Event Reminders"

Clicking on the new link gives me this login page:

I think they are just trying to promote Google Calendar's integration with Gmail. Someone that loves Gmail might like event reminders and have no knowledge that Google Calendar exists. |
