Google Expands Acronyms
Google seems to have quietly introduced a new feature to their web search: acronym expansion. When you search for wfs clinton
, you can see the full title “World Food Summit” in bold. Google in their search results pages only bolds what they understand to be the search query’s keywords – and this means they understand “WFS” means “World Food Summit”. Another example of this new functionality can be triggered by entering “cia wfb” (the CIA World Fact Book). [Thanks Jonathan Rynd.]
