Google Expands Acronyms

Google seems to have quietly introduced a new feature to their web search: acronym expansion. When you search for wfs clinton, you can see the full title “World Food Summit” in bold. Google in their search results pages only bolds what they understand to be the search query’s keywords – and this means they understand “WFS” means “World Food Summit”. Another example of this new functionality can be triggered by entering “cia wfb” (the CIA World Fact Book). [Thanks Jonathan Rynd.]
