This is a funny idea: the Yahoo Research Labs and O’Reilly present the Tech Buzz Game. The objective is to make virtual money on a virtual stock market, betting on (and predicting) futurist ideas. Like the Google Calendar (currently down by $0.07 to $15.85), iPod Video, podcasting, Technorati, Skype, or the Xbox 360. Popularity of the stocks is measured by the Yahoo search frequency over time – once a prediction turns to reality, searches on the item will naturally increase, so this is a sound indicator.
To start playing, register for an account (this is not your Yahoo ID). You will then receive $10,000 to start investing in products.
