Gbrowser in Spiegel

German Spiegel Online interviewed Blake Ross, one of the main developers behind Firefox. They’re talking about Google, too:

“SPIEGEL ONLINE: How can Firefox benefit from a strong partner such as Google?

Ross: Google donates programmers and resources to the project. They’re sharing our vision of a world in which technology is actually beneficial to humans, not the other way round. From the beginning Google’s work served as inspiration for Firefox – even before the Mozilla foundation had an official working relationship with the company.

SPIEGEL ONLINE: Aren’t you afraid Google will become too influential?

Ross: The world would be a better place if Google had more influence. Google understands what people want from technology, and they’re delivering just that with astounding precision.

SPIEGEL ONLINE: There have been repeated rumors about “G-browser”, a browser by Google. Is Firefox going to be this G-browser? Or is Firefox going to be a competition to the G-browser?

Ross: Rumors are rumors.”
