Underwear Perverts?

Cory Doctorow asks everyone to call Spider-Man, Batman and others “underwear perverts” because Marvel and DC try to turn the word “superhero” and its derivatives into their own trademark (like on this underwear perverts exhibition), bullying competitors with legalese. Cory says:

“Super-hero” isn’t Marvel’s property. They didn’t invent the term. They aren’t the only users of the term. It’s a public-domain word that belongs to all of us. Adding a ™ to super-hero is a naked bid to steal “super-hero” from us and claim it for their own.

With great power comes great abuse, apparently. For more info on underwear perverts, see the Marvel underwear perverts and DC underwear perverts homepages. Oh yeah, and there’s an upcoming underwear pervert movie.
