Google Maps Mobile Adds Traffic Data

Google Maps for mobile phones now features real-time traffic data, Google announced. You can see congestions and get delay estimates for over 30 US cities. You can also save your driving routes.

To download the app, point your phone to “www.google.com/gmm”. The program installed fine here but then crashed on startup everytime (on a Nokia 6600, which is supposed to be a supported device).

The discussion is in the forum.

[Thanks Corsin Camichel and Manoj Nahar.]

Update: I’ve added a video showing the new mobile maps feature [MPG], courtesy of Google. (The file size is ~28 megs though the video is only half a minute long...)

Update 2: Corsin created a much lighter Flash version of the video. [Thanks Corsin!]
