Nostalgia Wikipedia

Wikipedia since some years is available as an archived mirror from December 2001.

Back then, the entry on Google reads: “Google employs a farm of about 3500 Linux computers to answer search requests and to index the web about once a month.” (Thousands of servers? A month to index? Today, nobody outside Google really knows how many servers they have – numbers of several hundred thousand are frequently mentioned, like in Wikipedia’s current entry on Google – but you can definitely see that sometimes pages appear in Google’s index mere hours after publication.)
