Ask.com Releases News Aggregator

Ask has launched a service called BigNews, Search Engine Land reports. It’s a bit like Google News – automatically aggregating stories from thousands of sources – but emphasizes a “BigFactor” score assigned to every story. (The BigFactor number looks a bit like the icon next to stories at Digg, but you can’t actually add a digg... and as such, I wonder what it’s doing in the interface in the first place.)

I find the BigNews homepage good-looking but slightly on the cluttered & confusing side, but then again I’m also not using the Google News homepage either, just Google News search. And BigNews’ search feature indeed may become useful; it nicely clustered recent hot items in a search for “google," for instance.
