Search Gmail for Beginnings of Threads Only

Rakesh posted the following small tip for Gmail at his blog. If you want to search for the very first message of a conversation only, you can use this search syntax (where “jane” is the name of your friend):

from:jane -subject:Re: -subject:Fwd:
