Kindle 2’s Text-to-Speech, and Copyright

Kindle 2, Amazon’s ebook reader, has a new text-to-speech feature which reads out loud the books you bought for it. Here’s a bit of interest from the Wall Street Journal, quoting the director of the Authors Guld, Paul Aiken, saying: “They don’t have the right to read a book out loud ... That’s an audio right, which is derivative under copyright law.” [Via Reddit.]
