Annoying Google Friend Connect Bar

Thanks Google for minimizing the space the browser takes up with your Chrome app, but why do you take the extra space away again with that oddly irrelevant Friend Connect bar (which overlays the content and scrolls along with you on pages like these)?

Or is this bar highly useful to some of you?
