There's something going on here: I tried to open a label, Gmail couldn't that and showed the retrying message. When I refreshed the page, Gmail reverted to the 1.0 version with no option for the 2.0 version. After a minute, I reloaded the page and the new version returned.

For the last two days gmail has stopped working for me on two different computers in IE – still works in firefox. I cleared cookies and cache and that solved it on one computer but not on the other. hmmmmm

Somehow .. I am being switched back to the older version of Gmail without me doing anything on my side. The 'Newer Version' link is gone as well. Anyone experiencing the same?

Upon further investigation, I realized that even Chat, IMAP and POP3 Mail Retriever is gone .. this is really weird .. I logged into other Gmail accounts that I own and they all work fine.

keeps doing it for me too.

Maybe blogoscoped could make some noise about this to let gmail engineers know?
