<<Google has stepped up its efforts to woo newspaper publishers with a search service that displays results in the style of a “virtual magazine”.

As the company tries to boost readership for online news, its Fast Flip program initially will feature content from The New York Times, The Washington Post and the BBC.

The idea is to replicate the experience of browsing a printed publication, with readers pressing next page to be instantly “flipped” on to the next item of content, an experience that Google hopes will make online reading more pleasurable.>>

The "I like" button excepted, what new feature Google Fast Flip give us?
Want to do quick review of News? Just use Google News, here the titles and snippets have all the same size, position. So you can read it faster.
On the contrary, with Google Fast Flip, you lost more time at searching for titles and texts each time you see another page because layout is always different.

What do you think?

Makes webnews more newspaper-like, in that you can flick through the pages, check the headlines and click on through to read.

I mean, sure, regular text headlines did that, but.
.
I dunno, this kinda feels more tactile in a weird way.

Cool stuff.

/pd, you can "Like" an page you're reading by clicking the button on the right hand side. I gather this section then displays which articles have been liked by your Gmail / Google Talk contacts.

The Google Fast Flip http://fastflip.googlelabs.com looks interesting. Whether if the model is really going to work is or not is something that we have to wait and watch.

Will Google display content from small time news publishers besides the big players (New York Times, The Washington Post and the BBC) in this index?

Thanks,
Sudeep,
