Thats actually bad to see how media has made BAD meaning of this term "HACKER"

Here are some excerpts from ccc.de
on what HACK / HACKER / HACKING is

Hacking is not a crime
• A crime needs criminals to take place
• Criminals pursue financial goals
• Criminals do not share knowledge
• Hackers pursue higher goals
• Hackers share knowledge
• Hackers are not criminals
• They need to explain complicated things
• Using media to educate the public
• Hackers are concerned citizens and artists
• “Hacker Ethics” reflect principles of culture

Hackers Ethics
• Access to computers should be unlimited and total
• Always yield to the Hands-on Imperative!
• All information should be free
• Computers can change your life for the better.
• Hackers should be judged by their hacking...
• You can create art and beauty on a computer.
• Every good hacker is an artist
• Every good artist should be a hacker too
