StarOffice is based on OpenOffice.org.
OpenOffice.org isn't a great name for general customer-oriented software, it's more like a project name for the open development of it. |

The first version of OpenOffice.org was based on StarOffice indeed, but as far as I know, the main development is focused on OOo and StarOffice takes OOo and adds some stuff. |

Actually it's not, main development is on OOo and StarOffice brands it, adds Clipart, dictionary etc and provides support. |
I seem to remember that Google was in talks with Thinkfree late last year. In view of the StarOffice news, presumably nothing came of that? Incidentally, an extremely useful application called Intellicomplete won't work in StarOffice (or OpenOffice). Pity |
OpenOffice was created from the original StarOffice code. StarOffice now uses some of the code that has been added in to OpenOffice since then. |
I think the paid version of StarOffice offers full support. Is this the case for the Google pack version? |
