I can't state the exact article now, but I am sure that it says that gmail.cn was there before Google. Just look at the whois data of the domains, Gmail.cn has at least one year head start to Google's Gmail announcement.

Could very much be so, but the colors in the logo are totally 'aimed' at Google's service. Or did Google imitate Gmail.cn... think not!
Being first is one thing, copying one another is a of a totally different kind.

Why do you think that they redesigned the logo after the release of Gmail? Why can't you just accept that either: a) Google overlooked the .cn site, and designed a similar logo b) so the logo, and they copied it, knowing that almost noone knew the .cn site existed c) they come up with similar designs independently? |
Check this out, this is the article I first saw, before it appeared here on the blog: http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/09/26/HNgmailcousin_1.html |
Gmail.cn (not Gmail China!) looks like a site Google might want to take to court one of these days. *** with defeats in Germany and the UK, its a good idea to enrich lawyers if Google does not know what to do with their warchest. **** |
