Viewing a published google docs file through opera mobile on wm6).. i saw a mobile version of the page, WITH editing links. As well as a link to http://docs.google.com/m , a 404 page now
yesterday the same file was displayed through the google mobile filter
I'm still using my mongul.. excuse the punctuation and such. |

Great stuff! I was just thinking this morning how useful it would be to have Docs and Spreadsheets available on my mobile to read / write stuff while I'm on the move. |
I can't imagine a rich-text editor for (my) mobile phone. |
I don't think it will be more than "read-only" because of the complexity to modify a rich-text on mobile device. But it is still possible that google build a Java client (as for Gmail) that will allow "Read-Write" access to docs. |
Lets hope for the best.. ;) |
Prehaps the GPhone will have write access to GDocs. (If Google made the phone OS, then why not?) |
Here's a good mobile interface. FWIK, docs can be read on mobile phones.

Having just tried the link Ionut's provided, I can view my documents on my mobile and get a similar footer to Insane Ninja:

Mobile is already selected and unlinked. Clicking "Docs Home" takes me to http://docs.google.com/m which produces a 404 Not Found error.
They're doing this using content negotiation based on the user agent as the URL is exactly the same – and changing my user agent in Firefox to the same as my phone also produces this version. |
I changed the user agent to Nokia6600 (http://johnbokma.com/mexit/2004/04/24/changinguseragent.html), but I can't see it. |
Here's my user agent string from my Nokia N73:
Mozilla/5.0+ (SymbianOS/9.1;+U;+[en];+NokiaN73-1/3.0638.0.0.1+Series60/3.0) +AppleWebKit/413+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Safari/413
(Remove line breaks, of course.) |
Cool, it works. It's read-only, but it looks better than the GWT version. |
it seems i'm a victim of features...
when i switch my phone to a non filtered view, the editing links disappear. Looks like the opera browser (in fit-to-screen mode) ignores css-hiding commands. The only news here is that google documents now have a moble display. with hidden editing links. |
