Octavee says he saw a Google Gears dialog in Google Calendar. Some unrelated issue or a sign of things to come?

<<just got a message if I want to allow or deny google gears in google calendar. Seems a new thing, but under what's new is no mention of it. ...
This is the screenshot. But seems to not work yet. I tries to diasble my internet and enter an event. but it was not saved.>> |
Calendar seems like a good fit for Gears, would love to see this happen.
Perhaps we'll get some releases / announcements during tomorrow's analyst day? |
yes, this is confirmed by the javascript. Gears is everywhere in it. |
Execute this in your address bar:
javascript:_olp_showPromo();
You should get a dialog box containing the following:
<< Use Google Calendar Offline To view and edit the next 3 months of your Google Calendar when you're not connected to the Internet, click " OK ". [Online] will appear in the top right of your screen whenever your data is ready to be viewed offline. undefined
This feature uses the Google Gears browser plug-in (which is already installed on your computer). >>
Doesn't look like it's quite ready yet... |
(hey, welcome back Tony!) |
And here's another link to try:
javascript:void((function(){if (3!=0) {_GenSettings(3);}})())
That displays the Offline settings although it doesn't seem to save the changes if you check the box and the "learn more" link leads to here, which is currently blank:

(Thanks... it's taken me a while to catch up!) |
I wish they would use the same gears icons as google reader does. it's silly to confuse users. |
I also saw one of those gGears dialog boxes in gCal... |
I even cleared my google.com Gears allowances and still didn't get a dialog. I had to re-add the site from Reader. Maybe it's not prompting on my account. Then again, Tony's functions worked... |
Yay! My gcal works offline.
|
finally this is what google calandar needed. |
It shows the message box, but Google Calendar doesn't think that I have installed Gears, even when I have already installed it. I guess I'll have to wait.... |
