'The unstoppable organizer and provider of all the world's data has just refused to run a simple, non offensive sponsored ad by "YaliesorImpeachment.org" Northeast Impeachment Coalition asking for impeachment, claiming they do not permit " the advertisement of websites that advocate against a group protected by law".'

The other reason Google gave for refusing to run the ad was that Google "does not permit ad text that advocates against an individual, group, or organization. ". The policy itself may be good, but this rise an important question about a control under public discussion Google have and may acquire in the future.

Google doesn't allow hate ads in general. This is just some moron with a bee in his bonnet.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/2/15/05114/9646 for example

I can't stand people who go after a sensationalist story no matter how incorrect the basis for it is. Google doesn't like hate ads. For example, I cannot say "Prime minister Brown is useless", but I can say "The Torys might be better than PM Brown".

I don't think a democratic process, included in the US constitution, qualifies as "hate".

As I said the policy to not allow ads against somebody might be reasonable, but on the other hand it's essential for the very fabric of the democracy to allow free public discussion about the political leaders. The more of our content Google controls the more important polices like this becomes.
