Great points, I agree completely!

One suggestion for the Netpadd site: another thing I often look for immediately when I am considering an app: screenshots.

I see that the Help section has screenshots but of course that isn't too obvious. It wouldn't hurt to either put a single shot on the home page (bigger than the thumbnail on the left though), or link to a page with a few shots. You could just take the shot from the Help entry page and put it on the home page.

Someone visiting that site is very likely investigating the app, considering whether to try it out. I am a geek/programmer and so I may or may not be representative of most visitors to that site, but a screenshot is definitely my first means of deciding whether an app is worth spending more time on or not.

I found this web page after seeing the source forge mirror selection one too many times and googling to see if anyone else was tired of it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Excellent main points in this article too.
