Not a huge deal, but the creatively named "shared stuff" *sarcasm* is down (for global mode) right now (i don't know if this is even new)--

Usually when they release parts of services, they aren't left incomplete for so long. It should have been fully released by now, don't you think? |
No, it's not down. They disabled the pages that contained the most shared pages from a site or globally (I noticed there were a lot of adult videos hosted by Google Video). The shared stuff from individual users are still there: http://www.google.com/s2/sharing/stuff?user=103588655491600728393 |
Someone correctly me if I'm wrong, but Shared Stuff was never officially "released." In other words, it never was mentioned on an official Google blog. It was discovered as a "Share" link on Google Video. Maybe it was put there as a way to get some limited early adopters testing it to help with OpenSocial type efforts? What direction could Shared Stuff be going in? Thoughts? |
<<What direction could Shared Stuff be going in? >>
That's easy. Sergey Brin mentioned at some point that there's no consistent interface for sharing things and that every service has a different UI/functionality for sharing. Shared Stuff will probably be implemented in all Google services (share search results, share photos, share documents etc.) and will also be available as a widget for third parties. |
It has to be integrated into the Toolbar like Notebook was.
Google Notebook started small. It'll probably pick up soon. |
