PHP support would be great, I keep my fingers crossed for it...
Based on the current application server plans available around, the prices seems acceptable for most of the midsized companies, so it would be a great driver for the GAE boom.

Yeah, supporting the Zend engine would really get a lot of people using Google apps. What about Ruby as well?

Maybe this has something to do with the fact that Perl is hopelessly outdated and ugly, and that there is no reason to use Perl when you have Python.
