very funny ---> 非常有趣的 --> Very interesting english ----> chinese ---> english
Oh my! |
Chinese Garfield is still pretty funny. Which strips were translated with Yahoo and which ones with Google? |
P.S. Just a quick bit of UI/usability feedback: can you make it so that hitting tab from this text area takes you to the Submit button next instead of the "Rules" link? |
Google's translation were – unfortunately for the purpose of this – far too good to be funny most of the times, even when trying multi-language chains (e.g. English to Japanese to German to English). I nearly gave up on this until I had the idea to use Yahoo-owned babelfish.altavista.com instead. With that one, interesting (because badly-translated results) were much more common. All but the first translation are from Yahoo :) |

That's a good suggestion, I'll see what I can do. |
funnier than the originals. |

This just got a mention over at Language Log:

And I love it. Are you intending to crank out more, or did you find it too time-consuming to bother? And have you considered the implications of taking on a Soap comic? Mary Worth (i.e. "Mary value") could make for some surreal reading.
(I did my own weird Garfield thing a while back, coming to similarly not-quite-right results via a different technique: http://www.joshmillard.com/garkov/) |

I'll see, it wasn't that time-consuming once I started using Yahoo's translator :) |
