The "taylor swift" search in the ad is a poor choice. The Google results for this search are excellent:

1. Taylor Swift at Wikipedia
2. Taylor Swift official site
3. Taylor Swift myspace site
4. Four relevant image result thumbnails
5. Two relevant video result thumbnails
6. News Results for Taylor Swift
7. A fan site
8. An interview
9. A fan site
10. IMDB page for Taylor Swift
11. Taylor Swift CD at Amazon

These results are excellent. It would be hard to do better, even by hand-selecting the results.

Huh, never seen em take them on directly like that. While I seem to see search results are comparable between the two; Google is clearly the leader. Seems pointless to take a shot like that.

Do we actually know that this is a real Yahoo ad (as opposed to, say, a concept presentation by Yahoo's advertising agency)?

You can simply give a visit to Yahoo.com and if it wasn't there with a few clicks on refresh you'll get it.

Here's another one.

Football results @ Google:

Yahoo offers additional information, like stats for players: http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=moz2&p=braylon+edwards
