A Dutch company designed a new font named the Ecofont, "Lots of late hours (and coffee) later have resulted in a font that uses up to 20% less ink. Free to download, free to use.","The prints we make for our 'daily use' not only use paper, but also ink. Lots of ink"
The Ecofont is based on a open source letter, and is available for both PC and MAC for free.

Mac, but anyway, interesting idea, and I love the end result
I love things like this. |
Great way to save ink. It would be even cooler if modern printers did this sort of saving by default. |
Yes that would be nice indeed, but i like the font idea to. |
A visually interesting font, if not quirky in large sizes.
But both my laser printer and the ink jet, produced by HP, have modes which will cut the ink usage way back [and surely all other manufacturers have this same facility.] A simple preference edit by me forced my printer driver to behave this way by default.
As I regularly use that ink saving feature on all printers, with the same effective 'graying' of the character set that I notice on this font, I wonder what would be the difference between this cute font, and my steps.
