We use Skype and we use eBay (userid: NuLemon). We have been using both of them for years. But we never use Skype for eBay. No one calls us from eBay.... We also have used gmail for years... Interesting to see if marriage of Skype and Google will give a cute kid :) |
I don't see any good reason for Google to acquire Skype, except perhaps for the users' base. In my opinion * Google tries to get rid off softwares, except Chrome+Add-ons+Gears (1) * Gmail video chat is ready for HD, and I don't see what could be the advantages of Skype's solution (and they've stopped developping Google Talk) * Skype is a good stand-alone product, while I think Google want more integrated app for its application suite.
What could motivate Google to acquire Skype, whithout changing their
(1) I should mention their Native Client (http://code.google.com/p/nativeclient/), and I wonder why Google continues to work on Google Desktop: is it only to push GDesktop users to use Gmail, Docs and Calendar before discontinuing the product? Can they use some gadgets for future Chrome add-ons? |
What about using skype's encryption for gmail chat?
On a side note, I think it would be good for google to buy the Internet Movie Database and WebMD. |
