Google's home page has seen several ads lately...

Since a couple of days, they are showing this in youtube help:
"Think you can write a better article? Click this link to visit Knol and try your hand at editing this entry. Knol is a new platform we're using in the Help Center so you can update articles and share community-edited information with others." |
Knol is a funny animal, it's like google answers without the questions. Like Wikipedia without the great content. Like blogger without rss, google groups without (email) notification and Google docs without security.
I guess it's good for general advice from one person to the world.
I thought it was a competitor of wikipedia, but it is not. It feels like a website from 1995, like when people used microsoft word to create webpages.
It's easier than wikipedia, that's for sure. But maybe that's not a good thing for the quality of the content. Wikipedia (and it's syntax) is very good at keeping the idiots out. And I like it that way.
Just my 542 cents.
