Yep, it's gone for me too. As has the "Search the Web" button in Gmail, as someone else mentioned in another thread... |

"We've decided to discontinue public calendar search and the public calendar gallery. These were specialized U.S. English-only features that weren't used as extensively as we would have liked, and proved difficult to maintain over time. We're looking at ways to make it easier to search and browse public calendars, but for now we've removed the gallery and public calendar search function." http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=139970
To bad. But why didn't Google made it easy to search public events? The only way was to log in to calendar and then search. The public calendar search should have been public for everyone, like an easy to remember address as http://events.google.com

Used to be you could go to http://www.google.com/calendar/gallery and search a bunch of public calenders. Now that link just loads my calendar. What happened? Did they close it forever? i'm still reeling from the death of notebook. =( |

Nobody probably used the search function. I know for a fact I just used it once. |

I don't understand why Google doesn't have a real search engine for public events. |

Did they re-do the process to add public calendars? The site looks different. It also won't accept iCal calendars, either. |

ah, thanks for moving the post. So what is the deal? It won't accept iCal or CSV imports? |

The search for Public Calendars in Google Calendar seems to be gone. At least for me. Can someone confirm? |

This makes Google Calendar MUCH less useful to me. It was actually the feature that got me to start using Google Calendar in the first place.
Their public explaination is essentially "it wasn't used much" and "it's too hard"? But I thought Google was the smartest and most super awesome company of all time?
I find it hard to believe that people who use Google Calendar didn't use this feature. I bet their beginning to cut back by eliminating support for certain features. What will vanish tomorrow? |

Echo what Andy and others above say – it was a MUCH more useful calendar when I could import public calendars – including my favorite baseball teams. I thought Google was the innovator – this is a giant step backwards. |

Never mind – I found it at................YAHOO

Google, the Public Calendar Search and the ability to add public calendars to your own calendar was what made Google Calendar truly innovative and not just another calendar application. Please bring back Public Calendar Search!

This IS NUTS! Discontinuing the search function for public calendars??? Why??? The basis of collaboration is having a centralized place for sharing information.
Something weird is going on .... |

OK, so let me get this straight ... Google couldn't come up with a way to search public calendars? Google. Couldn't *search*? Riiiiight. I call bullsh*t. |

You can still import calendars, just not search for them. Sad when G removes a search function!
I've started a listing of public calendars at:
http://googlecal.com/
Please stop by and contribute your own, and we'll make our own list! |
