Old article/video do you remember it?

I have been searching through the blog's archives trying to find a particular post, and was wondering if anyone can recall it.

It was a video which linked to a google employee or speaker, possibly a techtalk who was doing a presentation.

One of the main points that i recall, and why i was searching for it, were points about third world countries and how they don't really exist anymore.

Once again this wasn't the topic of the entire video, other parts included economics and medicine and rates of survival per country.

i have been going month by month, i recalled it probably early 08 or within 07.

This blog/forum being "80%-Google", have you tried searching for it using suitable combos of keywords? Nobody but you can progressively narrow down the search terms to a manageable results suite, which then can be validated ocularly one-by-one.

A good starting point would be "(youtube OR video.google) AND [year]", ie.

after 2 days of looking, i posted this about to give up, tried just using a WWW general google search, found another site that linked to the same video that this blog did.

Talks Hans Rosling: Debunking third-world myths with the best stats you've ever seen

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/hans_rosling_shows_the_best_stats_you_ve_ever_seen.html

thank you for the thought.

Out of curiosity, what EXACT search terms did you use to reach that other site which linked to that ted.com-hosted Rosling animated video? I'm asking, because your initial description was so vague and devoid of greppable detail, as to be worthless. And yet, had you said "Rosling," "animated statistics," or even only "color-coded blobs showing global trends in health expenditure per capita" or something, I'd have thought of Rosling straight away, whose lectures are fairly well known. As it was, however, certainly my own suggestion of YouTube and/or Google Video keywords above wouldn't have led you any nearer – the only keyword common to both quests being "video," which is too generic to be much of use.

It was enough. I had a hunch it was going to be the Rosling third world video, but then I scrolled down and saw that the original poster had already found the answer.

Roger, if you say so. Maybe we should have an annual award for second-guessing hazy queries, the more url-less the merrier!

[put at-character here]ianf, we do this kind of thing all the time at Uclue, e.g.:

"What is this film?"
http://uclue.com/?xq=2668

"Name/author of sci fi book from when I was a kid"
http://uclue.com/?xq=2689
