The alt text of the logo is "Birthday of H.G. Wells". The search is for [H.G. Wells]. The top result at the moment for me is Wikipedia:
<<Herbert George Wells (21 September [today] 1866 – 13 August 1946), was an English author, best known for his work in the science fiction genre. Wells and Jules Verne are each often referred to as "The Father of Science Fiction".] (...)
His early novels, called "scientific romances", invented a number of themes now classic in science fiction in such works as The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man, The War of the Worlds, When the Sleeper Wakes, and The First Men in the Moon.>> |
Today the logo/alt/search appears correctly translated into several european Googles (.de, .it) but in Spain, for a while, it appeared withouth linking to the search and with the alt text "Not for Spain":

The explanation for the ALT text seems to be this one: http://tallerseo.blogspot.com/2009/09/google-punishes-spanish-seos.html |
I doubt that's the reason. Since the logo has been up in Spain only during the sunday-monday night, and approximately at 10:00 has been retired, I thing it's more likely a mistake. Also, I doubt that trying to position a page for the doodle searches only happens in Spain. |
