Not sure why they aren't using Google Profiles-- on a side note, why don't our Google Contacts grab info from Google Profiles???-- but i just noticed a profile wave

This is how it worked when the Preview was first launched. Then they updated the Edit Profile link to redirect to Google Profiles.

I think the idea is that all information (settings, etc.) is handled by waves. I thought it was quite a neat implementation. And don't forget that not every Wave server would be owned by Google, so it doesn't make sense to hook it into Google Profiles (unless it was done through an API which allowed Google Profiles to push data to your Wave profile).
