I think this is the widest doodle ever made. Correct me if I'm wrong.
|
WebSonic.nl | 14 years ago # |
Yes that's right, this is the first time the logo 100%. |
Juha-Matti Laurio | 14 years ago # |
That doodle is being shared globally:

The link is a search of [Vancouver 2010]. If they would have made the link a search of [Olympic torch], then it might have listed the trend as "Olympic torch" "on fire".

Google could be trying out a new doodle method? After the wide screens replaced the normal computer screens, maybe Google is making doodles that would not look small in a wide screen display.
But that's just a thought.. :) |

Did they remove the luge doodle because of the accident? |
WebSonic.nl | 14 years ago # |
Maybe, although the accident occured before the logo was placed? |

are the olympic doodles supposed to be moving doodles? mine do not show movement... |
WebSonic.nl | 14 years ago # |
No why?
George R Here is the answer: http://mashable.com/2010/02/13/google-luge-olympics/

the following post on twitter made me think that the doodles were moving doodles cuz it made it sound like it was an action shot:
<<<Good decision, Google, on swapping the luge doodle (of a luger sliding off the border, no less) for a snowboarder.>>> |

About the accident (R.I.P.):

I emailed Google about the Luge logo, here is the statement:
"Our hearts are with the family of Nodar Kumaritashvili in the wake of his tragic accident. By coincidence, today's doodle had been planned to celebrate lugers in this year's Winter Games. Out of respect for the loss of this tremendous athlete, we've now changed to the next installment of Olympics doodles." |

title for the pairs skating (2010-2-14): "Happy Valentine's Day / Vancouver 2010" |

The medals results are being automatically updated to Google main page today, but the content is localised. It appears that source is www.vancouver2010.com. |

Just now I see a heart in the logo too :-). |
