I don't know if this is known or not, but without registering for anything I just got a new google layout

This looks like the layout they were testing earlier, but slightly different. |
This is a little better then the other one with the giant blue buttons, but I still think it could be more Googly. |
Indeed, looks much better. Can you chare the cookie PREFID? |
mi PREFis ID=496cfd992ab9f273:U=a77c3a4da3815c1d: LD=en:CR=2:TM=1260896352:LM=1267013388: DV=8atQZBunt08B:GM=1:IG=1:S=1ebLUyXkRkBnJMYi

Go to Google.com (Press Go to Google.com if you are brought to a localized version of Google, this won't work for localized versions evem if you change the code to .google.ie or whatever instead of .google.com)
Put javascript:alert(document.cookie="PREF=ID=496cfd992ab9f273: U=a77c3a4da3815c1d:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1260896352: LM=1267013388:DV=8atQZBunt08B:GM=1:IG=1 :S=1ebLUyXkRkBnJMYi;path=/;domain=.google.com")
into your addressbar (NOT the Google Search Box) and press return.
Searches on Google.com should now use the new layout.
(Sorry about the layout breaking, could and admin put in one of those scrollable code-boxes?)

I noticed when running that javascript that the layout I received also has a spot that shows my location which I presume is used to customize my results locally much like when using Google Mobile. |
Compared with the first experiment the search butto nis blue, much better and the options in the search panel are gray now. That´s it so far I see.
I also noticed a ´Nearby´ option currently also in the normal search panel. Don´t know when this was added. |
James Xuan I can't make it work here – logged in google.com, from France, in Chrome dev, English language, Mac OSX, all Google experiment disabled.
|
Erratum: it works, but only when logged out. |
It looks nice, but was quite jarring because they have made several tweaks (positions, fonts, visible options) to things I had gotten used to. Overall it is cleaner though. |
