Google.org is assisting in geothermal research. SMU research sponsored by google.org has revised estimates of hot spots. They have data you can explore by depth or by state. http://www.google.org/egs/index.html The revised analysis suggests the geothermal reserve in the vicinity of West Virginia is much more substantial than was indicated in their earlier study.
