Why are these "hertz-2011" and not "hertz-2012"?

The Google logo should have been sine waves!

Is this a joke?

"This stuff is beyond me but even if it isn't the wave Hertz is responsible for proving – who cares, the point is to get the message out about his contributions to the world."

These waves are not at all right. They need to be sine waves. THAT is the message about his contributions to the world. And with that in mind the irony in that sentence astounds me.
