*it is not pop3
*most people use it because it works with outlook, but ignore what it is and that it has limits so it starst to bounce

I despise hotmail, why? Because it's so bloated! It's merely impossilbe to check your hotmail account when you are on a analog modem. The storage capacity is also minimal.

I would have said that the G in GMail stood for Google. However, since you mentioned anything except Google, I'll make my answer googol (The number 10 raised to the power 100 (10^100), written out as the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros). Google supposedly derived its name from googol.

Why I dislisk my Yahoo! Mail account because

1) The spam filter sucks. I still get spam in my inbox, and I have to check my bulk folder since some of the non-spam mail goes there. And going through a bulk folder with 200 spam messages looking for a possible non-spam message is not fun.

2) There are too many advertisements. Even though they made the logout process shorter (before, you would have to go through two pages to fully logout that silly middle page was just to show you another ad), there are just so many advertisements. The advertisements take up so much space. I have to scroll down a bit just to get to see the message. Granted, I do have the full headers displayed for identifying spam origination, but the ads still an unnecessary hassle. And another thing about the ads is that they sometimes have ads that look like a porno ad (ever see those x10 or dating ads?). This is just what I need at work or at the library when I'm checking my email.

3) Speed and reliability. Ever since they gave us 100 megs, the site has been slow and unreliable. Grrrrrr.

4) Capacity. Sure I think that the 100 megs is sure nice. But eventually it'll fill up (like my 200 Gig HD). Why not give out 1Gig? (Maybe the G in Gmail stands for Gig [can this be my second answer?]) The 1 Gig certainly should be possible for the Yahoo giant since Google can do it.

5) Shortcuts don't always work. The Control + Shift + X is a good idea to check mail, compose, etc. Too bad it doesn't always work.

The 'G' in GMail stands for Giga as GigaMail=1 Gig of storage in google email. Another option is BigEmail or [Bi]g[E]mail! Or maybe even Grand email, b/c it is a grand idea that is possibly revolutionazing the concept of free email service. (i.e. Yahoo is now offering 2Gigs of email space for paid subscribers)

I'll be honest and tell you that I don't hate my yahoo email account, but I really want a free account with my name, which by the time I signed up with yahoo was no longer available.

1. I can't find any of my past mail. I have to search through all the mails in my inbox and that takes a while
2. No more space. I just sent a a couple emails with pictures and that filled up the rest of my account space.
3. Well, let's just face it. Google is better...

Hello... So I see everyone is trying to get a Gmail invite. If it's not too late... I'd like to take a stab at it too.

1. The G in Gmail stands for Gigabyte Mail (that's the obvious one) since the mail allows you to store a gigabyte. But my version of Gmail is "Good-bye" Yahoo and Hotmail Accounts Mail.
2. "Holy Grail" rhymes with Gmail. That just came to mind since there are so many people wanting a gmail invite and I figured I would need a lot of help.
3&4. I have both a yahoo and hotmail account. I'm always deleting junk mail and trying to clear space so that I won't reach the max limit. I glad someone finally took action.

The problem with Yahoo mail is that their Spam guard doesn't work. More often then no, I get spam messeges in my inbox, and messeges from friends and family in my bulk mail. Yahoo also sends you their own advertisements, which if they were sent form anywhere else, they would be interpreted as spam. One last thing is when you go over your storage limit, they are riding your butt to free up space. It all gets very annoying.
