Here's a little something to thing over:
I've noticed that Google Sync had an updated version (1.2.xx) and tryed updating to it. Firefox couldn't do it.
So I went to the page for manual install. It failed to.
So I took the XPI url from the HTML and pasted it manually.
This is the page i've got:

Thanks for your interest, but the product that you're trying to download is not available in your country.

I am from Israel, btw.

Any ideas?

P.S. i will be writing to their support ofcourse, but it usually takes time to get answers...

I've checked their newsgroup – it seems to be a bug, not a region related restriction:
