People who invite other people advertise the service for free, basically. And you trust friends more if they recommend something, right. So far it was perfect viral marketing. Also, by keeping the availability scarce, Google could manage to increase interest to the point of web-wide hype a while ago... quite a success. But maybe by now it would be good timing to actually make it really public, as it starts to annoy some, and everybody realized there's so many invites floating around anyway... |
