The ResourceShelf team has just posted a list (far from complete) of numerous domains and directories that Google is currently using. The list was assembled this past weekend. We have plans to maintain it.
Caveats (several) and a direct link to the list is available here: http://www.resourceshelf.com/2006/08/22/a-list-of-some-of-googles-domains-and-directories-currently-in-use/ |
Sorry about that. Some server issues today. Reposted with a new url. http://www.resourceshelf.com/2006/08/23/a-list-of-some-of-googles-domains-and-directories-currently-in-use/

Gary, thanks for this. I assume this file will keep the same URL if/when it's updated?
One problem with Google is that you never know what's a directory and what's just a file. For example, you list this as a directory:
www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin
How are you differentiating between the two (if at all) – especially considering that some Google URLs won't work when the trailing slash is added or removed?
BTW, I assume you've seen these lists of mine:
Google Subdomains http://ruscoe.net/google/google-subdomains/
Google Account Service Names http://ruscoe.net/google/google-account-service-names/
(I was thinking about making them editable – like a kind of wiki – so that others could help maintain them but just haven't had the time.) |
Ah, I wondered why the list looked so poorly laid out on the page, then I took a glance at the source code – it's all been produced in Excel.
Why not make the original Excel datafile available – or perhaps even host this as a Google spreadsheet page? |
Tony, I'm not sure what Barry plans to do with the list. No, I did not check each url re: trailing slash. As I clearly noted and your AWESOME collection (-: points out, my list is far from complete. Perhaps the three of us can get together and merge it all together. I have a tool that I will run about once every few weeks to see if I discover any new entries.

Is it possible to comment on posts at ResourceShelf (or is this omission just another manifestation of the server issues referred to above?).
Without being able to comment there, its difficult to pass on updates to this list. |
Zmarties, I was just posting the Excel sheet when your message came through. Don't know what Barry has planned for the future.

No, Zmarties. ResourceShelf does not have a forum. Between ResourceShelf, DocuTicker, and my real job. Plus trying to have a life away from the computer I don't have time to moderate a forum. However, feel free to contact me via email (my address is on the blog) with questions. Also, ResourceShelf is part of Free Pint family of sites which does offer a forum. |
