There used to be a delay when starting Firefox up, but since I've reinstalled XP, there's no longer such a delay. In fact, it's instantanious!

I have noticed it too.. I think Google changed it to sync after firefox is started, instead of before it loads. I could be wrong though.

it starts loading after firefox is on.

It is much faster now than when it was first released. I hardly even notice it anymore.
