I you have an old Picasa 2.2 installation, selecting the "view readme online..." from the Help menu takes you to
http://readme.picasa.com/public/
which is now telling you that you have (auto) updated to a new version of Picasa with Web Albums.
It looks as if Picasa 2.5 which is currently in limited Beta is about to be released to everyone, possibly via automatic update.

Let's hope this also comes for Linux. |
I am really hoping they do more with Tagging before release. I think it needs a Tag button. Right now, there is not even a menu option for Tags; they can only be applied via a keyboard shortcut. There also needs to be viewable list of Tags, as well as a way to sort for pictures without Tags. Finally, I would like to see Tags with Subcategories.
Overall, 2.5 has been working very well for me. I just would like to see better Tag support, and of course the ability to index drives or CD's/DVD's that get removed and . . . .

All normal download links from existing Picasa pages still seem to get you an old version, but the 32.91 build is available direct at

My Picasa 2.5 just auto-updated to 32.94. I'm not sure if this is general release or just for current 2.5 installs:
From the Read Me:
"September 15, 2006 Picasa 2.5, Build 32.94
# This update fixes bugs with saving to disk, uploading to Picasa Web Albums, and with CD burning. # Thanks for all of your great feedback and bug reports! Let us know if you run into any problems with this update."

Tony, where do you see the read me that you quote from?
The online readme has been updated to 32.94, but does not include any details of bugs fixed.
The only readme I have on my local disk is from Picasa 2.0, and has not been updated by any of the subsequent updates. |
Ah, I see – the help menu took me through to
http://readme.picasa.com/public/
and hence to
http://readme.picasa.com/public/releasenotes.html
Surprising that the old beta readme is still being updated – but missed out any mention of build 32.91 |
Direct from Picasa's Michael Herf:
(from http://groups.google.com/group/PicasaSomethingBroken/browse_frm/thread/863f33c0305362b1/83614b6ed16acc31#83614b6ed16acc31)
"32.94 is rolling out to picasaweb users starting tonight, and it has fixes to this issue. We've fixed a connection issue due to Google Web Accelerator, added more reliable connection detection, and figured out some proxy bugs.
If Internet Explorer can see picasaweb, we're really hoping Picasa will be able to upload to it in this new build. " |
