Very interesting, particularly the chart "Websites with largest reach".
Google has said that their goal is to own the world's information. Actually, I think the words were to "organize the world's information". And to do that, they must reach the world's users.
Look at that "reach" chart again. Google is only just behind Yahoo, and the next chart shows that Google is growing twice as fast as Yahoo, so Google doesn't need to worry too much there.
Next is msn – but it's also not growing as fast as Google.
The next two are baidu and youtube, so Google is competing head-to-head with baidu and has bought youtube. Other "fast growers" include blogger and orkut, so Google is looking good there.
Taking all this together, it's highly likely that in a few years Google is likely to have massively higher reach than they do now, and than Yahoo or msn will. |
Baidu will be Googles worst nitemar.. The Userland and revenue metric is big – Very Big and if google loses market, then they have formadiable competetion. |
:) Yes we are talking about China and asian market (competition) |
Yes Elias, thats why they are moving Orkut quickly into India .. the second largest avialable democratic markets :)-
Once Orkut becomes viral in this sector, it has the potential of having 250M active users by 2010, that would be a little less then the 350M projected in China. Remember that regional ad's are a big push in india!! |
