Ya, Bad title I know.

I was at school today and I heard a few of my friends were talking. One of kids said "I Gmailed you, did you get it ?"

Um... Ok. So has Gmail now become a verb.

Has anyone else heard anything similar ?

Better title would be: Is Gmail the new Google verb?

I'm sure I've used that phrase myself. And I've also found myself using the phrase "I was GTalking to him..." before.

It is not such a big change though is it. I mean: "Search" -> "Google" is changing every letter. "Email" -> "Gmail" is changing one letter.

So it is easy to slip into saying it.

I would often say "I want to check my Gmails".

I can see another Official Google Blog post coming...

<< Usage: 'Gmail' as verb referring to emailing via any conduit other than Gmail.
Example: "I gmailed him using Hotmail..."
Our lawyers say: Bad. Very, very bad. You can only "Gmail" using Gmail. If you absolutely must use one of our competitors, please feel free to "email" from Hotmail or any other email provider. >>

On a side note, I've heard LOTS of people say "I MSNed them..." meaning that they sent someone an instant message via MSN Messenger. This seems to be much more popular than using "IMed" (or "IM'd" if you prefer to abuse that apostrophe).

"I AIMed him a message"
"I gmailed her a copy"
"I skyped them yesterday"
"I googled all of it"
"I yahood me"
"I MSNed us"
"I ipodded the song" (or is that "I podded the song"?)
"I got slashdotted, boingboinged and waxied on the same day!"
...

I used that before. I often say I gmail you instead of I email you:) it's just the cool way of saying it.

I say "I'll Gmail it to you" when I'm talking to a friend who uses Gmail and non-Gmail e-mail accounts and I'm referring to sending it to their Gmail account. Also, I use it when I send someone an attachment through my Gmail account.

Yeah using gmail or gtalk as a verb isn't that new. My friends actually use it more than I do
