Maybe an update to the Beta version? It could do with some changes...

I think it will be a move to get Groups 3 out of Beta.

From the Google Blog on 4th October 2006:

>> we’re even trying to (gasp!) take it out of beta reasonably quickly <<

I'd say 3 months is about right.

Maybe the " Groups " on Groups Beta will become yellow, as the the non beta is ;

Nicely spotted David!

I hope that's not the only change. I've been a big user of Groups since they were Dejanews – hell since they were newsgroups only. The current Groups Beta brings it in line with Yahoo Groups, but there's a 'spark' missing. Maybe they'll bring groups into GAfyD? That could be useful.

That last image is either from when Google Groups was first in beta...or just after they dropped the stylized "2" from the logo...

I think that the Groups logo will stay blue, to go with the new default colour scheme. The general blue colour is probably been pushed by senior staff as part of the "features, not products" – at least making them LOOK like they all tie-in.

I'm currently not able to get in to groups at all (or Blogger, or my blog on Blogspot for that matter).

There's a stupidly optimistic side of me that would like to think this is related to Steve Job's Macworld Keynote that starts in about half an hour.

Maybe the Apple iTV will be Google enabled, and Groups is being upgraded to host live discussion forums for TV shows being watched with iTV. Or not. But I can dream right?

Confirmed in the UK.

Anywho... let's just focus on what Stevey has to offer us!

And for any Google-fan that isn't aware about the keynote... you can find the continuously updated blog post here...

Groups and Groups Beta just came back for me.

Nothing had changed though.

Shame. Thought they were actually going to merge them this time.
