http://www.google.co.sr/ <-- Seems to just be an ad-bearing proxy to google. Whats going on, and couldn't this quite easily fool the user? |
and logo.. its a tree..
WTF?
maybe Tony knows something about this.. ?! |
Well, I know as much as you guys :-) but here goes...
The top level domain is actually .sr – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.sr – and it seems someone is giving away .co.sr subdomains.
So, this domain isn't owned by Google but they could easily have set it up. (If you view the source, it's actually a frameset that just includes Google.com as the main frame.) Then again, someone could quite easily have set it up too... |
so youre saying that if i wanna buy this domain.. i can? |
Yes notice that it reflects your local page. Mine reads "Google.ie as Gaelige" though it still shows google.co.sr |
You can get a free .co.sr a http://nic.co.sr/eng/index.html |
Weird. I just registered http://blogoscoped.co.sr just for testing. I wouldn't have realized it's only a subdomain if not for Tony's explanation... |
