Google is set to start filtering videos and other content on YouTube for copyrighted materials, taking a key step in helping the online video-sharing site comply with one of the biggest complaints it faces – rampant piracy |
bye bye YouTube so.
reminds me of the rise and fall of mp3.com
when mp3.com was new , they had a pretty lax copyright checks, so you could upload your mashup/remix of say Madonna or whatever. it was fun when it lasted. Then they clamped down on that , and clamped down on sampling in tracks to such an extent that you couldnt even use a 1 second or shorter vocal sample (from a movie for example) in your tracks. pretty much lost interest in uploading to mp3.com after they started doing that.

The key issues: * filter copyrighted materials * make agreements with copyright owners * improve ad quality (maybe pre/post-roll video ads) * share ad revenue with copyright owners |
