Do you remember my simple Google-relevance-algorithm described here: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/83810.html ?

I used it to compute the links between the 100 most influential persons of 20th century:

With some surprises...

Sorry (I hate Goecities!).

The xls is here:
http://milivella.sphosting.com/time100.xls

I'm trying to upload it to Google Docs, but it's too large.

BTW, I've uploaded the image to Picasa:

Mostly, people from the same (domain/country/period of time) have bigger scores. The results are pretty good.

This is weird link, I admit it. But:

1. Which of the other persons should be more strongly linked to Bruce Lee? Muhammad Ali? I dont' know. I don't see persons really linked to Bruce Lee in the list. Maybe Marilyn is the best of this low-related persons.

2. B.L. and M.M. were both actors.

3. Both dead young.

(2.+3.=4. Both popular icons.)

This, of course, applies only to Bruce Lee. And the other 3 points are stronger for him than for Marilyn.

To Philipp (blog post):

> she says

"He": I'm male ;)

> The algorithm behind this is a kind of normalized Googleshare, if I understand it right, but Milivella please correct me if I’m wrong!

You aren't wrong, but maybe it would be more meaningful to say that it's like a Googleshare that doesn't rank high those words/expressions that are often used outside of that context. Example:

Context: "Google Blogoscoped". Expressions: "with", "Philipp Lenssen"
Googleshare: "with" 100%; "Philipp Lenssen" 10%
My algorithm: "with" 4; "Philipp Lenssen" 1064

Oops. So I suppose Andrea (your email signature) is a male name in Italy?

I've drawed another (IMHO far better and more interesting) graph:
- Image: http://picasaweb.google.com/milivella/UntitledAlbum/photo#5039481500204188338
- Blog post: http://zhouzhuang.livejournal.com/1786.html

(And, yes, Andrea is a male name in Italy.)

Added a correction to the post, thanks...
