FYI. The "mobile" service name was recently made live:
These URLs "work" although the 2nd is apparently malformed XML and neither of them get you anywhere when you login: https://www.google.com/accounts/Login?service=mobile https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mobile
Trying to create an account generates an "Invalid request": https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mobile
And trying to edit the service details gives the usual "User has not signed up for the service": https://www.google.com/accounts/EditUserServiceData?service=mobile
BTW, this was in the sandbox [*] back in July last year, when it pointed to here in the accounts page: http://m.google.com/m
I wonder what they're planning on using it for now though. The ServiceLogin page above says:
<< Need an account? Go to google.com/ig on your computer. >>
Maybe it's just to bring all the mobile services they currently offer together – or just a way of offering a "mobile-friendly" sign-in page.

Hmm, wasn't there speculation on a "Google Phone" recently (some Google-developed/ co-developed mobile OS)? |
I also realised this morning that when viewing Google.com on my mobile, I get the option to switch between Mobile and Classic like in the page above:
<< View Google in: Mobile | Classic >>
(I don't remember seeing that before but I rarely use Google from my mobile...) |
Anyone want it? I can source. |
What do you mean Xiaowan? |
For "Google Phone" keyword. Free season comes, I have time to do one mobile phone at Google mark. Or I plan to do a PC. Not decided. I did five or six Gfans phototype(watch, clothing ect) per year. Just for enjoy. Not for profits. This year, only plan to do a one. |
