Weird. I'm trying to upload a 25 megs WMV video to Google Video and keep receiving a "The connection was reset" in Win/Firefox (the URL ends up as http://www.google.com/video/uploader/form/videoonline ... I'm using the web-based uploader). The video goes through fine at YouTube. As opposed to YouTube, Google also doesn't provide any kind of upload progress bar...

You could always try the uploader https://upload.video.google.com/GoogleVideoUploaderInstaller.exe

I actually uploaded the video to YouTube first before trying Google Video. But then I was curious to compare quality, because the YouTube quality was quite bad. I'm sure I'll get it uploaded on Google somehow I just found it weird that such a big site returns such a big error...

[put at-character here]Philipp: I clicked on that link you provided (http://www.google.com/video/uploader/form/videoonline) and it redirected to http://www.google.com/errors/upload_server/system_down.html

I have had the same problems as you this evening, Philipp. I finally had success by using the Desktop uploader. Like you, YouTube worked fine.

Why use Google Video over You Tube? The Google Video screen is much less cluttered and intimidating to the family I am sharing my videos with.

Though i hate to say it, have you tried using IE [dun, dun,DUN!] or any other browser

James,
I'm pretty sure Google supports FF as good as it supports IE.
I don't think it's a browser issue.

Well in Picasa Web Albums in FF you are forced to use the basic uploader, in IE you don't. I do prefer FF but IE is the most used

I know about Picasa.
but, for example ;
try opening this page with IE:

http://m.gmail.com/

and afterwards try opening it using FF.

tell me the results.

Well, I uploaded with the desktop uploader now. If anyone wants to compare quality:

► Google Video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8433385036590551560&hl=en
► YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O5VKAl8MtM
► Original file: http://www.coverbrowser.com/lab/movie/spider-man.wmv [WMV]

[put at-character here]Philipp,
you own all these comic books?

and I'd say Google Video is slightly better than YouTube..

GVid has better quality. Play them side by side in two different browser windows.

No, I don't own all of these. I own maybe 50-100 issues of Amazing Spider-Man, I'd have to check my collection...
Here's a description of how I assembled these images from the web:
